Splatter Girl by HopelessSoul Splatter Girl by HopelessSoul
A few people I showed this to really liked it. I was trying to get a sad stunned look on the girls face.

I like this alot. The colours are really great and I like the placement, in the middle where you can see the girl coming from the splatter. Its all personal preference. Overall I realy like this piece.

How'd you get the splatters to be so nice? Did you drip down from above with spray paint or is that another kind of acrylic or something???

It's a mix of golden liquid acrylics mixed with a little water and applies with a round brush that has a 3 or 4 inch bristle length that I use to fling splatters and squeeze them out of the brush. I also cut some of the splatter right into the stencil. The mix of the two works pretty well.

well it looks great. Forgive me if I borrow some of these techniques for my own stuff ;)

Thanks :) yeah go for it. Some other drip tricks are using a toothbrush dipping the head in paint and running your thumb across it to create a fine spray. Also eyedroppers and turkey basters make good drops too. You'll want to make sure your paint is thin enough to splatter instead of just falling into a lumpy circle.

You've made many great decisions on this but the central placement weakens the dramatic effects you've build. Not trying to be harsh and i'll be the first to admit that i've made this mistake repeatedly. Still a definite +fav!

Oh no worried man. I welcome critiques sometimes its hard to see things with out the input of others. Its also one of the best ways to get better as an artist. Thanks :)

I see what capitolletter is saying, but I dont necessarily agree. The way you have the gril framed, you wouldnt want to off center her to much. plus having her centered brings your i right to her face and i totally think you got the look you were looking for on her face! But it wouldnt work if you didnt have the paint splats to help to help keep it form looking uniform at all.

All that to say, if it was my work, i wouldnt change it in any way because i personally think you nailed it!

Josiah

P.S. I love the way you did the background with the purple!

Thanks :) I'm glad you like it. The background was a little tricky trying to get the spray paint to blend evenly but I'm glad it came out the way it did.
